To help you, I need to get the network id for your phone.
Menu-> Settings-> Other Settings-> Network-> Avail. Networks-> TracFone

Click 'View' and tell me what the 6 digit number is.

Also, I need to know if you are able to receive text messages from this site.

On the left you can type a text message to your phone and hit send...

Thanks for sending me that number. I think I know what the problem is and I'm working on a fix.

kryptacide: make sure you select "motorola sms" before you click send. It is the only type of ringtone that will work for your phone. (this is a monophonic version of the ringtone)

mp3 and pictures are not supported on the v170.

kickenklint:

The number you gave me 310030 does not match the number that I show is providing your service... according to what I see, the number in your phone should be 310260..

If you know someone else in your town with a tracfone, ask them to try to download a ringtone here. I think it is either a problem in your local area, or a problem with your phone.

Deeje and Clueless-

I will get a nextel phone to test with this site.

yanic020-

It looks like you are doing everything right... can you get normal text messages from this site?

Do yo get any error messages when you receive ringtones?

normal text messages? if you mean the message thingy on the left of the page then yes. and no im not getting any error messages. theres nothing. am i looking at the right place in my phone you think? the only thing for sms. i can see is under "chat" on my phone. SMS chat it says. also one more thing. i was reading on your tracfone FAQ that you have monophonic tones. dosent my motorola V170 tracfone on take polyphonic tones? iv read it many times. by the way thanks for the reply.

Yep, almost all of the the tracfone motorola phones take "motorola sms" ringtones.... The only exception is for internet tracfones which may be in stores already.

I will try to track down my v170 to see if I can figure out what is going on.
If you have any friends with motorola tracfones maybe you can have them try as well. This way we can tell if it is only your phone or everyone in your area that is having this issue.

The phone should tell you when it receives the ringtone and you just need to open it and then save it. Then you can assign it as a ringtone by following the menus.

ok cool thanks. also one more thing. i had a V120 before my V170 and to get ringtones for it i had to type in the notes in the composer and literally make my own tones. do you doug or anyone who is reading this know of any sites that have the actual notes for the songs so i can manually put them in? that would be great! ive searched but ive found nothing for the V170. thanks!
