I have a motorola v170 with Tracfone, and when I send the ringtones, my phone does not receive them even if it says message sent. My nuimber is correct and I am able to send regular text messages from the site to my phone. The network code on my phone says 310260. Do you have any idea why I am not receiving my ringtones?

Well, I had the same problem, since I also have a v170. One thing I do know is that your network code is the T-MOBILE one. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but it might. If you haven't tried this yet: go to the ringtones, then find one you like. Under the tone, you should see some icons. Click on the one that looks like a cell phone, then see if it says anywhere about having an older phone. If so, click on that and choose "Motorola sms" then send. You should get the ringtone then. I can't guarantee that it will be the full length, because that's what keeps happening to me. I only get a little bit of it, and it is very annoying. It hardly sounds like the tune. I don't know why it does this, because the ringtones that came with the phone sound okay. Anyway, I hope this info will help you.

Also, I checked on the Tracfone website and they said they were coming out with some new phones with internet access . They don't have a price listed yet, but they said they would list one soon. I'm gonna try and save up my money, so I can transfer to one of these new phones! I hope it isn't too expensive! I'm on a budget!!! :) Since these new phones have internet, there should be no problem with getting ringtones! You can even get realtones, video, and pictures! Yay! LOL! :)

Well, good luck, and if you need anymore help, I'll be glad to help you!

PS: It's only T-mobile if you're in Cleveland, Ohio like me. Or maybe not. Thats the only other available network on my phone, anyway. To see what the available networks are, go to the menu on your phone. Then go to settings. Next, go into "other settings", then "network". Once you've done this, go into where it talks about "available networks". It will search for all the networks you have, then you can see them and use the option to see what the codes are by hitting "view". I hope this works for you.

Another PS: the ringtones for tracfone are monophonic, so that's why they may not sound the same on your phone.

Afrogurl92 is right on. The tracfone ringtones you get with the older phones are very short and low quality because they have to be sent as sms messages. If you can get a tracfone with internet, that problem goes away and it should work with pictures and the high quality polyphonic ringtones that you hear in the audio preview.

Yeah I have the same problem, I click on it and never get it. VERY annoying. I'm stuck with the crappy Motorola ones just like I was stuck with the crappy Nokia ones before.

tracphone piggybacks off different companies(mine is att). there are other ways, you can buy a data cable with the software or if you have a blue tooth and this way you can download from your computer.motorola designed these phones to do much more than what tracphone uses.they have internet connection, but it is limited.they can also download wallpaper from your computer(via data cable or bluetooth). you can send and receive ringtones via sms.i have a motorola v170.

I can't even get a notification. I tried to send all the midi ones (yes, I was that hoping for a new tone for my v170) however, I kept getting a message saying I could not send them when I used motorola sms option.
I'm utterly befuddled.

your carrier is tracfone[verizon] that means that the phone is actually using verizon as the carrier. you can verify this by checking your network code in the phone. The tracfone-verizon combination is problematic for many people. unfortunately i do not have this phone to test it yet.

your carrier is tracfone[verizon]

That's wrong, actually. Checking it out right now, it says I'm on T-mobile. I don't know why it's saying verizon unless it switched over sometime. I double checked it on my other phone and it did say T-Mobile.
Then again, whoever said tracfone knew who they were using some of the time? =)
