When I try to send a ring to I get this
Balance: 1
Unable to determine carrier id from pin or destination address.
What am I doing wrong?

This is an unusual problem... I just sent you a text message. That should be working now but ringtones are still not working for your phone number.
It could be that this is a very new phone and will take a couple weeks to get into the system... I will keep checking.l

my friend has the same phone and provider and he live 45 miles away and it worked for his phone but not mine

when we play the ringtones back on his phone all it does is vibrate

Try a different ringtone. It could be that the notes are too low for that phone.

we did that and all it did was vibrate longer
