How do you download ringtones to a Tracfone Nokia 2126?

Monophonic ringtones are supported by the nokia 2126. You can send them to your phone by choosing a MIDI ringtone and then selecting "nokia sms"

Also you can upload a link for your own MIDI file and then send it to your phone.

what do you mean by link? You mean on my Nokia 2126, I can put in a web address and it will upload it? Does that mean you can have music files as a ringtone?

Thanks for your time

By link, I mean a web link on the internet. You upload that link into your Crostel account and then you can send the "nokia sms" version to your phone. It will be sent via SMS.

Unfortunately, you cannot put web addresses into a TracFone because Internet is not yet supported by that company.

You are limited to SMS monophonic ringtones if your phone does not have a working web browser.

Doug,

First off... hands off for a great website you are running here. Thanks!

I too am having trouble ringtones from your site. I have attempted a bunch and none have reached my phone.

My Tracfone network=310410 and also the other network listed is T-mobile=310260

Any closer to finding what the problem is? Anyway to hardcode our tracfone network numbers into the system?

Let me know if I can help out in anyway to fix this problem. Consider me your guinea pig. :)

thanks,
Paboo

Thanks paboo! I'm glad you like the site.

Your phone needs to get "motorola sms" ringtones because it is a v170.
This will work with your phone but it is monophonic.

The polyphonic "wap/internet" type ringtones don't work with Tracfones yet. (They will never work with the phones currently on the market, but new ones are comming that will have internet access.)

Net10 has a prepaid phone, the v176, that works with the pictures and polyphonic ringtones on this site. Probably there will be a tracfone version appearing in stores soon.

Doug,

Thanks for the response. Looks like I posted this in the wrong thread... I'm not attempting to download the poly tones.

I have only been attempted to download the monophonic ringtone via the 'motorola sms' option... it looks like a ton of tracfone users are having the identical problem.

I saw in a different thread that your did a lookup for a user's network id and it did not match the one that comes up on the phone... hence I provided you my network numbers to see if I was having the same issue.

I have a feeling all of the tracfone users that are posting out here are having the exact same problem I am.

I have no problem trying to help you debug this problem. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Thanks,
Pat

I have a similar TracFone. It is working fine with all the "motorola sms" ringtones. Also I have tested the v170 and it works too.

I have had other people say they have a similar problem to yours. Maybe we can see what is happening.

I will need to know what band is your phone operating on?

Settings->Other Settings->Network->Band Selection

850MHZ
1900MHZ
850/1900MHZ

You are probably on 850/1900. Can you switch to 850 and then try to send a ringtone and also a text message from Crostel. Also, try to send a text message to your phone from another phone to make sure sms is working right on your phone.

Doug,

Didn't have to change my band... I was finally able to download some ringtones.

One thing I did notice when I downloaded the ringtone is that this was displayed on the webpage: Message successfully sent. I'm pretty sure I never got this mesasge before. I think I only got this message before: Send. Or maybe messag was: Sent.

The 'motorola' ringtones aren't really that hot. Some of them are ok, but they are also extremely short! The one free one I downloaded from Tracfone's website is much larger.

It looks like your MP3/Midi -> Motorola SMS converter makes a really short file. Any way you can make longer files and try them out?

Thanks,
Paboo

Extra info... It appears that you are sending about 115 characters worth of data, but Tracfone's free ringtone is about 500 characters. How are they able to send one so big?

Paboo,

Glad to hear you are getting the tones now.
I see what you mean about the short ringtones. I'm working to get more notes into the ringtone for 'motorola sms' compatible phones.

Not sure yet if it will be double the length, but It will be longer than it is now.
